You're a qualified Open Water or Advanced Adventures Diver who is now ready to expand your diving knowledge, experience and skills by undertaking specialty diver training. Gozo Diving offers a number of Specialty Courses that will extend your diving capabilities and provide you with the capability to perform more advanced dives and access to more demanding dive sites. Specialties include:

computer nitrox

1 DAY

Nitrox diving opens up a new world of increased bottom time and safety if used to build conservatism into your dive plans. Nitrox is any mixture of nitrogen and oxygen including air but Nitrox usually means increased oxygen percentages in your diving gas. More correctly referred to as Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN), this increased oxygen reduces your nitrogen uptake under pressure and therefore extends the no-decompression limits (NDL) for a specific dive plan/depth.

EAN is sometimes thought to be a deep diving gas but this is incorrect. In fact, at partial pressures above 1.4 oxygen can become toxic and cause seizures which is very serious underwater. Detailed training is therefore required in the correct use of EAN.

The Computer Nitrox Specialty certification counts towards a single specialty rating to complete the SDI Advanced Diver Development program or SDI Master Scuba Diver Development program

Deep Diver

2 DAYS

The Deep Specialty Course is a must for any diver wishing to explore a little more, go a little deeper, and learn the risks and benefits associated with deep diving. Many interesting sights lay just beyond open water diver training limits such as: beautiful wall dives, shipwrecks, and marine life that don’t come into the shallows.

The purpose of this course is to provide the necessary training to plan and execute dives that are beyond the depth range experienced during an Open Water Scuba Diver course, specifically beyond 18m and to a maximum depth of 40m. By the end of the course your knowledge, awareness, and comfort level with deep diving activities will have increased.

The Deep Specialty certification counts towards a single specialty rating to complete the SDI Advanced Diver Development program or SDI Master Scuba Diver Development program

wreck diver

3 DAYS

Wreck diving can be one of the most exciting aspects of diving, however the hazards of wrecks and the overhead environment dictate special care and techniques for wreck diving. The Wreck Specialty Course will discuss the equipment and techniques commonly employed while wreck diving. This course will be taught as a limited penetration course, requiring three dives. Limited penetration is defined as a swim through or within the ambient light of the entry point.

Also, the Wreck Specialty certification counts towards a single specialty rating to complete the SDI Advanced Diver Development program or SDI Master Scuba Diver Development program.
